The weeds and grass have thrived rather dramatically, whereas some of the smaller seedlings have disappeared. Looking at the silvery trails I think most of them have succumbed to the slugs. Clearing the second root bed once again I planted the sweetcorn in half of the area, this time each one has been surrounded by some organic slug pellets. I am determined to get some crops growing in this bed. I will try and sow some more beetroot tomorrow if the weather holds out. The larger plants are looking healthier, with the climbing and runner beans starting to stretch their tendrils along the netting. The broadbeans are starting |
